how it works

  1. 1

    add a screenshot

drop it on the preview, paste it, or pick a file.

  2. 2

    pick a look

a background, a frame, a shape, and how much space sits around it.

  3. 3

    download

a sharp PNG, up to 2400 pixels on its long side, with no watermark.

what you can change

  • eight backgrounds, including none at all for a see-through PNG
  • a light or dark browser frame, or no frame
  • the address shown in the browser bar
  • the shape: fitted to the screenshot, 16:9, 4:3, square or 9:16
  • the space around the window
  • how round the corners are, and whether there is a shadow

why a framed screenshot does more than a raw one

a screenshot is the first proof that your product exists

A visitor on a launch page reads one line and then looks at the pictures. A screenshot shows them that the product is real and what using it looks like, in less time than any sentence can. It is often the only part of a launch page that everyone actually takes in.

a raw screenshot looks unfinished, even when the product is not

Straight from your screen, a screenshot has hard edges, no context and whatever was behind your window. Dropped onto a white page it floats awkwardly, and on a dark one its edges disappear. The same picture in a window, with a little space and a soft shadow, reads as a product someone cared about.

a frame tells people what they are looking at

A browser bar says "this is a website" before anyone reads a word. It also gives the eye an edge to rest on, so a busy screen feels calm. And the address in the bar is one more place your name appears.

the right shape for where it is going

A launch page shows screenshots wide. A post on X shows them at about 16:9, and a square crops well in most feeds. If you make the picture at the shape it will be shown in, nothing important gets cut off by someone else's crop.

what makes a good product screenshot

Show the product doing its main job, with real-looking content, not an empty state. Close anything that is not part of the story. Use one screen per picture, and make the first one the one that explains the product best, because most people only look at that one.

questions

Is my screenshot uploaded?

No. The mockup is drawn on your own device, in your browser. The picture is never sent to us or anyone else, which also means the tool works with private or unreleased screens.

Is there a watermark?

No. The picture you download has nothing of ours on it.

How large is the picture I get?

Up to 2400 pixels on its long side, as a PNG. That is sharp enough for a launch page, a post or a slide. A see-through background is kept when you pick "none".

Can I paste a screenshot instead of saving it first?

Yes. Take the screenshot to your clipboard and press paste anywhere on the page. You can also drag a file onto the preview.

What shape should I use for a launch page?

"Fit the screenshot" keeps your picture's own shape, which suits most launch pages, including ShipDesk.dev. For a post on X use 16:9, and for a feed that crops to a square use 1:1.
